Goldrush Music Festival

The Goldrush Music Festival is a free outdoor music festival with free entertainment all day long on the Creek Watershed in downtown Phoenix. There are tons of local events going on during the week in the area including several free events. On Friday, there’s a free concert by The Warlocks at The Canyon Park Conservatory; they play popular music including “Where Have All The Flowers Gone” by Nirvana, “I Remember You,” by The Rolling Stones, “Tumbling Dice” by The Rolling Stones, “Sympathy For The Devil,” by The Monkees, and many more. During Saturday, there’s a free concert by The Flamingos. The following day, The Bluegrass Revue Caravan Tour rolls into the neighborhood.

This year’s Goldrush Festival is going to be held at Rawhide West in Chandler, Arizona from September 24 26, and for the first time since its inception, the entire festival will run for three full days rather than two. The main stage features performances by The Warlocks, The Mountain Goats, The Mopecks, Mule Team, Big Medicine, Uncle Mojo Phonerozo, The Lorys, and many others. There is also a Kids’ stage, featuring the top kids’ talent from the community: Kittenz, Chuggles, Boots, Charmaine, Broomstick Hoes, Brandywine Creek, and Rainbow Girls. The Cheyenne Mountain Dance Festival happens during the Goldrush Music Festival. Also happening during the main stage and throughout the entire festival are fireworks and slide shows.

The band fronted by Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, The Voodoo Children, will be headlining the main stage. The other major acts are The Warlocks, Big Medicine, Chuggles, Broomstick Hoes, Charmaine, Uncle Mojo Phonerozo, and The Lorys. Most of the other artists have reunited after recent albums to play at this year’s Goldrush Music Festival. With the lineup this stacked, you could very well see this year’s Goldrush Music Festival becoming one of the most sold-out shows in all of the southwest.
